This release adds a full dialog system to the suite, two new card types that put it to work, and a new Info Card block. Here’s what’s new.
The Dialog System
2.1.0 lays the groundwork for dialogs in Cards & Sections. The blocks are there, and dialogs you build can be saved and reused across your site from a new Dialog Manager screen under the Groundworx menu in wp-admin.
Right now, the only block that can trigger a dialog is the new Video Modal Card. More trigger points are coming, but this release is where the foundation gets established.
Video Modal Card
The new Video Modal Card block is a card that opens a video in a dialog when clicked. It supports YouTube, Vimeo, and locally hosted video. No third-party lightbox plugin, no JavaScript to configure. Drop the block in, connect your video, done.
Info Card
The new Info Card block is modeled after the card pattern Apple uses across their site: a clean card with an image, label, heading, description, and a call to action. What makes it interesting is that the CTA is flexible. You can set it as a modal trigger, a button, or a plain link, all from the block settings, no custom code.
It’s the kind of card that works equally well as a feature highlight, a service overview, or a content teaser, and the modal option means you can layer in more detail without sending someone to a new page.
Accessibility and Security
Keyboard navigation has been improved across all card and dialog blocks, so everything works correctly without a mouse. A few additional security hardening tweaks are included as well.
